X’cambó and Cenote

The X’cambó Archaelogical Zone is located just outside of Telchac Puerto, approximately one hour from Progreso. Here you will find an ancient town filled with ruins of structures dating back as far as 250AD, used to control the salt and marine trade in the area.

Some of the structures you will see at X’cambó are:

  • Pyramid of the Masks
  • Temple of the Cross
  • Temple of the Sacrifices
  • Main Plaza
  • Chapel of the Virgin

On our way to the X’cambó Archaeological Zone we will be passing some areas where you will have the opportunity to stop and see salt flats and also many flamingos, depending on the time of year.

After your tour of X’cambó we will go for lunch at Casa de Strellita  in Motul where you can enjoy traditional Yucatecan dishes, fish and seafood.

Finally, what better way to end the tour than to go swimming in Cenote Sambulá. This beautiful cenote is very shallow in one end and quite deep in the other, with warm, clear waters. It is well maintained by the municipality of Motul.
