Uxmal and Cenote

The Uxmal Archaelogical Zone is a Unesco World Heritage Site located just over one hour from Mérida. Here you will find an ancient town filled with ruins of ceremonial structures dating back to 700AD that was home to approximately 20,000 people.

Some of the structures you will see at Uxmal are:

  • Pyramid of the Soothsayer
  • Quadrangle of the Nuns
  • Governor’s Palace
  • House of the Tortoises
  • Ball Court
  • Southern Complex, which includes the Great Pyramid and the Pigeon House.

After your tour of Uxmal we will make a stop at the Choco-Story Chocolate Museum. Then we will go for lunch at Restaurant Bar Cana-Nah where you can enjoy authentic Yucatecan food such as Cochinita Pibil and Poc Chuc.

Finally, what better way to end the tour than to go swimming in Cenote Yaal Utzil in the nearby town of Mucuyché. This beautiful cenote is very deep with crystal clear waters and is run by a lovely Mayan family.
